The UA Theater Grand Prairie 10 at Westchester and Carrier Pkwy. closed in December 2015.
United Development Co. of Southlake acquired the building last year.
"We bought a portfolio of 11 theaters in March of 2015," said Biff McGuire, United Development CEO. "We originally planned to put a supermarket in that building and we hope to sign up a grocer."
Along with the 40,000-sf cinema which will be remodeled, United Development is building 20,000 sf of additional retail space.
Starbucks, an R Taco, and Panera Bread will be tenants in the new space.
"This growing area of Grand Prairie reports a population of 225,000 plus residents within a five-mile radius," McGuire said.
The first retail tenants will open later in 2016. | Dallas Morning News
