BELTON – The Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. bridge opened July 12.

The $6 million project aims to relieve the traffic congestion that has come with Belton’s growth.
It is the most expensive municipal road project in Belton’s history.
The city went to the Texas Department of Transportation and worked together to decide that extending the then-Ninth Ave. to Loop 121 would be the most effective way to distribute traffic.
West Ninth Avenue became West Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue after a name change in 2013.
