HOUSTON - The expansion of a Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation retirement community is underway in Houston.

The Buckingham project is estimated to cost $72 million and add 183 new residences.

The expansion follows The Buckingham acquiring six additional acres of land.

There will be 106 independent living apartment homes, 27 assisted-living suites, 18 memory care residences and 32 private skilled nursing rooms.

The first phase of the project is anticipated to open during the first half of 2017.

Although construction is not finished, the new independent living tower is already 75 percent pre-sold.
