IRVING –  Billingsley Co. is ready to start work on what will be the new centerpiece of its 1,000-acre Cypress Waters project.

Phase one of the project—called The Sound—will have a new office building, apartments, and retail.

The five-story, 250,000-sf office building was designed by architect Gensler. It will be built on the south shore of 360-acre North Lake at 3100 Olympus Blvd.

There will also be about 500 apartments and several retail buildings facing the water. Billingsley has commissioned Spanish architect Juanjo Novella to create a 35-foot-tall sculpture for the entry to The Sound.

"I think this is the whole heart of the project," said developer Lucy Billingsley, "and we have been working very hard on it."

The first Sound office building, apartments, and retail should be open by early 2018.
