HOUSTON - The 136-acre site formerly occupied by KBR sits empty under the downtown skyline, Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, in Houston.
The property came on the market in June, creating the opportunity for a major redevelopment to take place just east of the central business district.
Property records filed in Harris County show an entity affiliated with Midway Cos. has purchased more than 100 acres from energy executive William Harrison, who bought the bayou-lined property more than three years ago.
Visions for the property at 4100 Clinton along Buffalo Bayou have included repositioning existing buildings as cutting-edge workplaces, building apartments and townhouses and creating a retail district throughout the site with shops, restaurants, a movie theater and a grocery store.
