DALLAS - Dallas-Fort Worth is on track for the best office leasing year in almost two decades, according to Cushman & Wakefield Inc.

Through the first half of 2016, net office leasing in North Texas has totaled almost 3.4 million sf.

If the trend continues through the end of the year, office demand in the DFW area will be at the highest level since the 1990s.

Leasing activity has risen in each of the last six years, according to the reports by Cushman & Wakefield Inc.

During the just completed second quarter, major office deals signed by Signet Jewelers, Molina Health care, Atos SE, CompuCom Systems, First American Title Insurance Co and Compass Professional Health Services filled bit blocks of North Texas office space.

Overall vacancy in the DFW area has dropped to under 16 percent as buildings have filled up to levels not seen in decades.
