EL PASO - About 40 commercial real estate agents and consultants got a first look at the new La Villita development in West El Paso, where the city’s first Whole Foods Market will open this fall.

The 90,000-sf project's retail space is going fast.

Rick Amstater of RJL Real Estate Consultants, the agent for the property, said he expects the retail and office space to be 90 percent leased by mid-October, when the upscale grocery is expected to open.

Whole Foods will occupy its own 50,000-sf building, and the La Villita retail and office space is about 40,000 sf.

Only two restaurants, La Madeline Country French Café and Chipotle, will be allowed in the development.

Retail space is going for $30 per sf, office space for $20 and new tenants will have to build out their space.
