DALLAS - The former headquarters of the Salvation Army has sold.

It totals 5.5 acres and is located at 6500 Harry Hines Blvd. and Mockingbird Ln.

The two-story office complex has about 81,000 sf.

J.Small Investments CEO Justin Small said he’s excited at the opportunity to purchase the site located in Dallas’ booming medical district.

The Love Field area building is prized by local architects and preservationists.

Built in 1963 for Great National Life Insurance Co., the 6500 Harry Hines building was designed by architect Grayson Gill in marble and glass with a pedestrian arcade and geometric aluminum screens on the exterior.

The Dallas chapter of the American Institute of Architects has given the building an award for being one of the best such projects of the 1960s.
