The Central Texas Food Bank will operate out of an expanded, state-of-the-art facility in Southeast Austin and is open June 20. The new 135,000-sf facility has a production kitchen, 15 loading docks, seven times more fridge and freezer space and nearly three times as much dry storage space. The food bank serve more than 8,000 people in Bastrop County each month. It delivered 1.7 million pounds of food in fiscal year 2015, which was distributed by partner agencies in the region like the Bastrop and Smithville food pantries. | Austin American-Statesman
