​​TYLER – Brookshire Grocery Co. said it’s buying 25 former Walmart Express stores that are located in smaller markets in Texas and Louisiana.

Walmart closed the 12,000-sf stores in January 2016. 
Tyler-based Brookshire plans to reopen the locations as Spring Market stores. 
The transaction is expected to close in July 2016.
Walmart owned all the affected stores. 
The ones in Texas are in Anson, Diana, DeKalb, Edgewood, Frankston, Godley, Grandview, Hughes Springs, Haskell, Italy, Kemp, Leonard, Lone Star, Maud, Merkel, Naples, Palmer, Waskom, Whitewright and Winters.
The batch of 25 stores includes Louisiana locations in Colfax, Iowa, Lake Arthur, Mamou and Zwolle.​
