SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio-based construction equipment manufacturer HOLT CAT broke ground on its new headquarters building that will serve as an anchor on the city's east side.

The new three-story and 85,000-sf headquarters building is expected to be completed in October 2017 and face Loop 410, where the company's construction equipment will be on display in a roadside industrial art exhibit.

The project’s construction costs are over $20 million.

The new building will include room to grow and add new jobs and will be environmentally friendly, HOLT CAT Vice President of General Services Tony Shedrock said.

Originally built in the early 1940s, the HOLT CAT campus predates Loop 410 by at least 18 years.

Holt said the company will be closing its W.W. White Rd. entrance in favor of new ones planned off Loop 410 and East Southcross Blvd.
