BAYTOWN – Netherlands-based Ikea should finalize its massive Houston industrial lease deal in a matter of days, Clay Development’s Robert Clay told the Houston Business Journal.

The global furniture and home goods retailer will lease 1 million sf in Houston’s Cedar Port Industrial Park, a 10,987-acre industrial park near the Port of Houston.
Ikea will occupy two of the three 500,000-sf rail-served distribution buildings that Clay Development is building in the park.
Assuming the deal closes, Ikea will move into one building in 3Q 2016 and into the other building around 4Q 2016, Clay said.
This will be Ikea’s first distribution center on the Gulf Coast;
Construction on the first 500,000-sf building began in January and is expected to wrap up in August. That building is located at 4830 Borusan Rd.
