HOUSTON – Land Tejas Cos. has broken ground on Balmoral, a 580-acre residential community.

Plans call for 1,700 homes in Balmoral, whose name was inspired by Balmoral Castle, the Queen of England’s favorite holiday home in Scotland.
The new community will feature traditional Texas-style homes starting in price from the low $200,000s.
Five homebuilders are planned for the first phase of 246 homes.

The undeveloped land sits less than two miles north of Generation Park, a 4,000-acre mixed-use development from McCord Development.
In April, Land Tejas acquired an additional 248 acres from Rockspring Capital.
Land Tejas plans to combine the two tracts of land and acquire two more adjacent parcels to create Balmoral.
