​​​​​​​​​​HOUSTON – As the most populous city in Texas, Houston is brimming with entertainment, sights, and diverse cultures. It’s no wonder many are looking to move to the area. 

To help new renters, Zumper ​​studied several thousand emails and calls, also known as inquiries, sent to rental properties in Houston last month to identify the most popular neighborhoods and bedroom types.​

  1. Great Uptown
  2. Greater Third Ward
  3. Greenway—Upper Kirby
  4. Astrodome
  5. Woodlake—Briar Meadow
  6. Neartown—Montrose
  7. Oak Forest—Garden Oaks
  8. Downtown
  9. Midtown
  10. Southbelt—Ellington
Great Uptown is currently Houston’s most in demand neighborhood, sending 5 percent more inquiries last month when compared with second place, Greater Third Ward.

The Most Popular Apartment Unit Types
Generating 38 percent of demand at a median inquiry price of $850, one-bedroom units had the most renter interest. 
Two-bedroom units were the next most in demand, producing 30 percent of inquiries at a median of $1,050. 
Three-bedroom units followed suit with 17 percent of inquiries at $1,400.
Studios generated 9 percent of total inquiries at a median price of $695, and four-bedroom units produced 6 percent at $1,600.​
