ABILENE - Compared with March 2016, rent rose 3 cents to 77 cents per sf, adding $45 to rent to the average, 1,504-sf rental.

This gain marks a 3.2-percent increase in rent over the 12-month average and a 6.2-percent gain over rent per sf in April 2015.

Townwide, average rents increased $86 per month.

The greatest gain in rent per sf was seen in ZIP code 79605 with a nine cent per sf bump in rent followed by 79601 with a six cent per sf increase in rent.

ZIP code 79606 registered the smallest gain in rent per sf of one cent per sf, but this ZIP code has experienced steady gains in rent per sf over the last seven months.

Between Abilene ISD and Wylie ISD, AISD experienced a gain in rent while WISD rents per sf remained flat.

According to the North Texas Real Estate Information System, 76 single-family homes were leased in April 2016.

These units leased at, on average, 77 cents per sf and were sized at 1,504 sf.
