70,000-SF Staples Street Station adds tenants in Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI - Mass transit won’t be the only transportation-related business done at the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority’s (CCRTA) new uptown headquarters—Staples Street Center.
The $34 million Staples Street Center, 602 N. Staples St., is located adjacent to City Hall and the Nueces County Courthouse, near the CCISD building, forming a corridor of governmental entities.
The agency announced that the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles has signed a lease for about 3,700 sf of lease space, which makes it the third largest tenant to date. The office space will house part of the department’s inspections division, so it will not be a destination for driver’s license issues, CCRTA CEO Jorge Cruz-Aedo said.
He added the space will be ready for the new tenants to move in sometime in the next "three or four months."
The three-story building is about 70,000 sf, and the CCRTA occupies about 36,500 sf of that.
The tenants thus far in the building are: the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Valley Transit South Texas Substance Abuse Recovery Services (STSARS), Nueces County Social and Veterans Services, and the Department of Motor Vehicles accounts for another 15,700 sf.
