Southwest getting its “Wings” with $150 million facility
DALLAS – McCarthy Building Cos. will build Southwest Airline’s new office and training facility on its corporate campus near Love Field Airport.
The new building, called Wings, consists of a 414,000-sf office building and an attached 367,000-sf flight training center that will house 18 flight simulator bays, associated offices, and ancillary areas. The training facility will be built to withstand 210-mile winds since it must remain operational in all weather conditions.
The project will have a 1,900-car parking garage and surface parking.
BOKA Powell is the project architect, and Pancheco Koch is the landscape architect and civil engineer. Reed Wells Benson is the mechanical and electrical engineer. L.A. Fuess Partners and Ponce-Fuess are providing structural engineering services.
The project will kick off in June and finish in early 2018.
