LUBBOCK - Lubbock recently was named the 15th best place in the nation to start a new business by WalletHub, a personal finance website.

Among the indicators used to evaluate the cities were the five-year survival rate of businesses, the average growth of the number of small businesses, financing accessibility, higher education assets, office-space affordability and cost of living.

Other Texas cities also fared well in the ranking. Five of them joined Lubbock in the Top 25 ranking of best places to start a business.

Amarillo was ranked as the 10th best place in the U.S. to begin a business.

The others in the Top 25 were Austin at No. 20, Houston at No. 21, Laredo with a No. 22 ranking and Corpus Christi at No. 23.

Last year in a list of the cities that recovered best from the 2008 recession WalletHub ranked Lubbock No. 1.

Another national recognition of Lubbock's economy was made in Business.com's 2015 list of the ten best places in the nation to get a job where Lubbock was ranked at No. 4 in America.
