AUSTIN - Construction is slated to begin before the end of 2016 on a new $80 million development in Southwest Austin anchored by a Moviehouse & Eatery theater, according to the project’s developer, Austin-based Stratus Properties.

As of May 17, 2016, Stratus CEO Beau Armstrong said the site at the southwest corner of William Cannon Dr. and Southwest Parkway is zoned and approved for 325,000 sf of mixed-use development.

The so-called Lantana Place project will include a hotel site, restaurants and about 65,000 sf of retail space.

Moviehouse & Eatery partners Leslie Sloan and Rodney Speaks said the affluent demographics in the area and the fact that they live nearby sold them on the Stratus project—even though it will be March 2018 before they can move into the 42,700-sf building.
