ARLINGTON – The University of Texas System Board of Regents has approved plans for a new University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) Science and Engineering Innovation​​ and Research (SEIR) building.

The $125 million, 220,000-sf building will provide a new, iconic southern entrance​​​​​ to the UTA campus as well as 900 new teaching seats in lecture halls and classrooms. 

The SEIR building will include a four-story wing with a basement level for research laboratory use and a two-story, instructional classroom for hosting conferences and workshops. Each floor of the instructional wing incorporates a 150-seat and 300-seat classroom intended for larger core courses.

Construction of the limestone, steel-and-glass structure will begin this fall with substantial complet​ion in summer 2018.

The building was designed by Page and ZGF Architects. The construction manager is Hunt Construction Group Inc.
