HOUSTON – Houston Methodist’s new hospital that broke ground last month has received city approval for $15.65 million in building permits for the foundation and utility work.

One $5.8 million permit is for the central utility plant expansion, which includes work on an emergency generator, new boilers, chillers, a cooling tower, and other utilities.

A second $9.85 million permit covers the foundation and superstructure portion of the 228,000-sf building.

Vaughn Construction is the general contractor, and Page is the architect. The project is expected to deliver in first quarter 2018.
