HOUSTON – General Electric Co.’s (GE) power conversion business will move its North American headquarters to Houston as it closes a facility in the Pittsburgh area.

Both moves were announced May 10.

The move will shift about 70 roles from the Pittsburgh area to Houston, said Paul Floren, a GE spokesman, and Tim Waldee, site leader of GE’s facility in Blawnox, Pennsylvania.

It’s still too early for the company to specify the exact headquarters address, but it likely will be at an existing GE facility in the Houston area.

GE’s various divisions have several locations throughout the area.
