EL PASO - German automotive parts manufacturer and distributor MAHLE plans to open a warehouse and distribution center at 41 Butterfield Trail Blvd. in the Butterfield Industrial Park near the El Paso International Airport.

MAHLE Behr Troy Inc., the automotive thermal components division of the corporation, recently leased the 153,000-sf industrial facility, which will be Mahle Behr's largest warehouse in the United States.

The facility plans to employ 50 people by the end of May and will be used to service four plants in Juarez that were formerly operated by Delphi Automotive.

The El Paso facility will hold and distribute materials for the production plants in Juarez, and hold and distribute parts made at those four plants, which are located in one industrial complex.

Mahle recently acquired Delphi's thermal business, which included 13 manufacturing plants in eight countries, including Mexico and the United States, and three research and development centers in the U.S. The division makes automotive air conditioning units, radiators, condensers, compressors and other automotive cooling components.

Mahle had been sharing several warehouses with Delphi divisions, and company officials decided to consolidate all U.S.-Mexico border warehouse operations into the new El Paso facility.

CBRE represented Mahle in the lease negotiations.
