Longview Mall to undergo $16M renovation, plus new stores
LONGVIEW – Longview Mall is writing a new chapter in its nearly 40-year history with an estimated $16 million redevelopment project.
The changes by new owner WP Glimcher are bringing new, major retailers—including H&M and Dick’s Sporting Goods—into the property and giving the 638,000-sf mall a significant interior and exterior facelift.
The renovation, due to be completed by fall 2016, will include the opening of Dick’s Sporting Goods, remodeling of the mall’s main entrances and restrooms and new tile flooring, LED lighting, soft seating and food court furniture.
The mall will remain open during construction with minimal interference to shoppers.
Recent months have seen several new retailers move into the mall. BJ’s Brewhouse built a new restaurant in the mall parking lot, and On the Border is constructing a freestanding restaurant, as well.
Several other retailers have been relocated to make way for Dick’s in the mall, while other existing retailers are going through expansions and remodeling projects.
Plans filed with the City of Longview indicate H&M will go into the space that formerly was occupied by Piccadilly Cafeteria, near the mall’s main entrance.
Longview Mall, which opened in 1978, previously was part of the Simon Property Group. In 2014, the mall was included in a spin off that created Washington Prime Group, which would later become WP Glimcher.
