DALLAS – Last month was a busy one for the North Texas housing market—the busiest since last summer, in fact.

Real estate agents sold 9,178 existing single-family homes, pushing sales up 15 percent in April, according to data released yesterday by the Real Estate Center and the North Texas Real Estate Information Systems.

Almost 30,000 homes were sold during the first four months of 2016. That’s 14 percent more than in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, prices were also up last month. The median price of a single-family home was a record $220,000—7 percent more than a year ago.

Inventory remained low with 17,819 houses listed for sale in the more than two dozen North Texas counties. That’s a 2.1-month supply, far below what the Center considers a balanced market.
