GALVESTON - A $45 million dormitory completed by Texas A&M University at Galveston represents the first phase of an expansion project that will add a new academic center, pavilion and infrastructure.
The Texas A&M Maritime Academy Residence Hall on the university’s Pelican Island campus has 612 beds to accommodate an expanding student population, said Grant Shallenberger, the campus’ associate vice president for administration and auxiliary services.
The university, one of six maritime academies in the nation, has grown from 551 students in 1987 to more than 2,300 in 2016.
