​​​TEXAS - You can’t just cross the state line and call yourself a Texan.  Though membership cards aren’t handed out at the "Welcome to Texas" sign, there are certain traditions in the Lone Star State that can make you part of the unique culture. ​

Here are some of the 29 things the Houston Chronicle suggested to do before you can call yourself a Texan. 

Eat at Franklin Barbecue in Austin

Attend a Texas A&M or University of Texas football game

Make a pit stop at Buc-ee’s

No matter how bad they need to go to the restroom, Texans hold it until they see a smiling beaver in a red hat.​

Chicken S*** BingoThe Big T Roadhouse, St. Hedwig. 

This isn’t your grandma’s bingo hall. The chicken feces decides what numbers are called.​​

Visit Cadillac Ranch (Amarillo): 

Show your creative side with a can of spray paint at Cadillac Ranch. The art installation has been there since the 70s.


The Painted Churches, Schulenburg/High Hill​

Murals were painted inside about 20 churches after German and Czech immigrants settled in the area about 100 years ago. ​​​​

You still ain’t a Texan until you cross these items off your bucket list!
