DALLAS-FORT WORTH – More than a third of the houses sold in the state in the first three months of 2016 were in the DFW area, leading the state in first quarter 2016 (1Q2016) home sales and surpassing other major markets by a wide margin.
Real estate agents sold more than 20,000 DFW residential properties—14.3 percent more than in 1Q2015, according to the latest report from the Texas Association of Realtors.
Texas’ statewide housing market saw an almost 8 percent increase in sales during first quarter, shrugging off the impact of energy sector layoffs in some cities.
The DFW area not only topped Texas for home sales but had an 8.6 percent year-over-year gain in prices—the largest of all the state’s major markets.
The inventory of homes for sale in Texas dropped to an all-time low, only a 2.8-month supply of houses for sale was listed with real estate agents.
