FORT WORTH - E-commerce giant Amazon.com Inc. can't get enough of North Texas and has decided to expand its footprint a week after announcing it would open a 1 million-sf distribution center on Heritage Parkway.

Amazon has signed another lease for 318,488 sf at 4601 Gold Spike in Railhead Industrial Park in Fort Worth.

It was not immediately known how many workers would be employed at the Gold Spike facility, but last week the Seattle-based retailer said it planned to employ 1,000 employees at its Heritage Parkway distribution center, which was its sixth fulfillment center in Texas.

Amazon spokeswoman Ashley Robinson said the Gold Spike facility will support the retailer's expanding customer fulfillment operations in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Amazon's other Texas fulfillment centers employ more than 8,000 full-time hourly workers, which include locations in Haslet, Coppell, southern Dallas and Schertz.

The company also has a facility under construction in San Marcos.
