​​LA PORTE – Paris-based Air Liquide SA, which has its U.S. headquarters in Houston, has opened its redeveloped Bayport Industrial District in La Porte ahead of schedule.

​The $230 million project redevelopment of the complex includes upgrades to its cogeneration unit to increase production capacity and extend its life by more than 20 years, as well as expanding the capacity of an air separation unit and additional infrastructure.

The facility now has the capacity to produce 300 megawatts of electricity and more than 1,300 tons of steam per hour.

Construction on the project created 250 temporary jobs.
