SAN ANTONIO - H-E-B now owns almost an entire city block downtown just north of its expanding headquarters.
The San Antonio-based grocery chain bought a parcel of land that's just over half an acre at 400 South Flores St.
The lot is next to a .6-acre property the company bought in March 2016.
The properties, which are currently home to two parking lots and two one-story buildings, encompass nearly the entire block at the northeast corner of South Flores and César E. Chavez Blvd.
The properties are near the site where H-E-B is spending $100 million to expand its headquarters, and close to the South Flores Market it opened December 2015.
H-E-B doesn't have any "immediate plans" for the property, spokeswoman Dya Campos said.
She previously told the Express-News that the property it bought last month will be "an addition to our existing footprint of our corporate headquarters."
