CELINA, COLLIN COUNTY - Construction has been underway on a new $1.1 billion, 1,800-home master-planned community, which sits north of US Hwy. 380 on the northern frontier of the region.

The 682-acre community, called Mustang Lakes, sits within Celina's city limits (although it also sits in Prosper ISD) and will bring 1,800 homes ranging from $300,000 to more than $1 million.

There are 334 one-acre home lots under construction, with deliveries to builders—including K. Hovnanian Homes, Highland Homes, Shaddock Homes and Drees Homes—expected in June.

Plans for community amenities include waterfalls, fitness center, spa, lazy river, four tennis courts and ten miles of walking trails. Mustang Lakes also includes eight lakes on the 682 acres.

Along with single-family homes, Mustang Lakes also has upwards of 35 acres zoned for a neighborhood services center, which a developer could build about 200,000 sf of retail space.
