MESQUITE – FedEx will locate a large regional distribution center on the former site of the Big Town shopping center on US Hwy. 80 near Buckner Blvd.

The development tract was previously the site of the Dallas-area’s first shopping mall, which opened in 1959.
Big Town mall was demolished in 2006—after having originally having Sanger Bros., Montgomery Ward and a JC Penney department store—and the property was rezoned for industrial construction.
Dallas-based 42 Real Estate LLC is building the 334,000-sf shipping hub for FedEx, expected to be completed by December.
FedEx chose the site because of its location at the intersection of I-30 and US Hwy. 80 which is also close to LBJ Fwy.
