LONGVIEW - MG Foods will open its new Longview operations facility in late April or early May.

The firm, which cooks, prepares and packages frozen and fresh food, is opening a 21,500-sf facility located at the old Coors distribution center at 2000 E. Cotton St.

Coors closed in 2014 after a fire destroyed much of the facility. However, MG Foods saw what it needed in an undamaged 8,000-sf cooler that remained on the property.

Of the facility’s 21,500 sf, 11,000 sf will be warehouse and office space, 8,000 sf will be a cooler and freezer, and another 2,500 sf is an enclosed delivery bay at the back of the building.

The firm is expecting to bring on 35 to 40 workers initially and add ten to 15 employees each month, hopefully reaching 120 to 140 employees by this time next year.
