AUSTIN - Texas Mutual Insurance Company, the state’s leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance, plans to consolidate its Austin offices and move its headquarters to the Mueller mixed-use project in Northeast Austin.

Texas Mutual is anticipated to move into a four-story building with 270,000 sf in mid-2018.

The building will be fully occupied by Texas Mutual and its 600 employees, with the exception of about 20,000 sf of first-floor retail space.

The building is expected to start construction in spring 2017 along Aldrich St., between Philomena St. and the future Garcia St.

The site is in the Aldrich St. district, home to the Thinkery, Lake Park, multiple apartment communities, an upcoming Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and several new local eateries.

Texas Mutual currently has two Austin offices, the main one at US 290 and I-35, and the other just south of Capital of Texas Hwy. and RM 2222.

Texas Mutual will join Seton Family Health care and American Institutes of Research in consolidating their staffs at Mueller. Other major employers at Mueller include Dell Children’s Medical Center, The University of Texas at Austin and H-E-B.

Currently, about 5,000 people work at Mueller and as many as 13,000 could work there in the future.

In addition to two new buildings underway in the Aldrich St. District, three new apartment complexes are under construction at Mueller, along with a new section of homes, more restaurants and a new park that is nearing completion.
