AUSTIN – Agents who use a mobile app to "hire" another agent to show a property could face administrative action or even a lawsuit if they don't know what they are doing, according to an article in the latest edition of TREC Advisor.
"License holders have a special fiduciary duty to their clients and a duty to
treat all parties to a transaction fairly," the article says. "Representation is not a 'service' that can just be
parceled out at will by one agent to another."
TREC's article addresses compensation, representation, and disclosure issues involved in hiring another agent to handle a showing.
