AUSTIN – The city council has voted to remove the historic Dabney-Horner home on the University of Texas’ west campus to make room for student housing.
The property, owned by Austin City Realty Founder David Kanne, will be moved half a mile from its current location at 507 W. 23rd St. to 901 Shoal Cliff Ct.
Kanne plans to sell the site on 23rd St. to Johnson Trube & Associates, which will build a 670-bed student housing development. Ten percent of the beds will be available as affordable housing to residents earning no more than 60 percent of the area median family income.
