Terrell business blossoming
TERRELL – Madix, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, Walmart Distribution Center, and Steelway International are expanding their local facilities and bringing more than 250 new jobs.
Madix is working on a $4 million, 50,000-sf building expansion. They will also build a 100,000-sf facility and add an additional 200,000 sf within the next three years. It will be built on land owned by Madix in the Airport Business Park. Together, these will add $10 million to the city’s tax rolls as well as 100 new jobs to the Madix payroll. Madix is a leader in the store fixture industry and has operated in the city since 1962.
Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, a manufacturer of custom-engineered curtain and window walls, storefronts, skylights, and architectural glass, is constructing a 73,000-sf building to house anodizing equipment. They plan to make a $15 million capital investment on the project, including $5 million for the building and $10 million for the equipment. The addition will create 25 jobs. Like Madix, Oldcastle began operating in the Airport Business Park in 1962.
Walmart Distribution Center is building 17,000 sf of refrigeration space at its facility in Metrocrest Business Park. The total capital investment for the project is $16.4 million ($5.7 million in construction costs and $10.7 million in equipment costs). The project will create 100 jobs.
Steelway International LLC, a designer and manufacturer of pre-engineered light gauge steel trusses and wall panels, will create 30 jobs with its new $3 million facility. The company relocated to the Metrocrest Business Park earlier this year.
