Sherwin-Williams' 600K-SF plant paints Waco 'green'Sherwin-Williams' 600K-SF plant paints Waco 'green'https://www.recenter.tamu.edu/news/newstalk-texas/?Item=127562016-04-07T05:00:00Z2016-04-07T19:30:00Z

WACO - Sherwin-Williams has broken ground on its new 600,000-sf distribution center, which is set to open in January 2017 near Texas State Technical College in Waco.

Cost estimates for the project include $1 million to buy the land—located at the southwest corner of Concord Rd. and Aviation Parkway—$6 million in personal property, and $32 million for the actual warehouse.

Sherwin Williams will invest $39 million in the project.

The site is presently vacant, but construction is expected to begin before the summer, with construction substantially complete by March 2017 and the facility fully operational by December 2017.

The current 440,000-sf facility located at 2700 Texas Central Pkwy. has been in operation since 1989.

Due to a growth in product lines and maxed out capacity at the current site, Sherwin-Williams conducted a search for a new facility in 2015.

All 264 employees will move to the new facility and more employees could be added down the road.

The distribution center will serve eight states across the region.
