CANYON - Administrators are moving full steam ahead after West Texas A&M University students approved an athletic fee hike to pay for an estimated $19 million on-campus stadium.
While the cost of the proposed 12,000-seat stadium is $19 million, the cost of moving a soccer and track facility to make room for the stadium in Buffalo Sports Park, the school’s massive sports complex, adds an additional $2.7 million to the price tag.
The total project cost moves to $26 million when factoring in design, management and other costs.
The campus soccer and track fields are set to be relocated by spring 2017.
