DENISON - After nine months of work, officials with the Denison Housing Task Force completed one of their primary goals on a housing master plan.

The plan outlines the city’s housing needs at all levels—from market-rate apartments and affordable single-family options to high-end homes in developments such as Gateway Village—and how the city can encourage development.

The focus on housing comes as the city is experiencing a housing boom with 2015 seeing the most residential building permits issued by the city in over a decade.

In the first three months of 2016 the city has issued more than 20 permits, setting a pace that would break last year’s record.
