AUSTIN – Capital Metro has approved a final agreement with Endeavor Real Estate Group and Columbus Realty to redevelop Plaza Saltillo, the ten-acre plot bordered by I-35, Comal St., East Fourth St., and East Fifth St.

The new Plaza Saltillo District will serve as a residential, retail, and transportation hub in the region. Endeavor’s plan, with the help of local architect Michael Hsu, includes about 800 living units (120 of which will be affordable housing), 120,000 sf of office space, 110,000 sf of retail space, and 2.25 acres of open space. Over 1,700 people are expected to live or work in the area.

The property is home of the Plaza Saltillo Station for the Red Line commuter rail. Once complete, other transportation options will include expanded Austin B-cycle service in the area, an extension of the Lance Armstrong Bikeway, car2go access, and below-ground parking.

Construction is slated to begin in early 2017 with completion expected after two-and-a-half years.
