AUSTIN - ESPN's X Games, which have been held in Austin since 2014 will not return in 2017.
ESPN will host the games for the final time at the Circuit of The Americas racetrack venue this year from June 2-5.
The sports media company is seeking a new home for the games in 2017 and 2018, the TV network said in its announcement.
In 2013, ESPN inked a four-year agreement to host the summer X Games in Austin from 2014-2017.
Attendance at the X Games in Austin dropped off sharply in 2015 in its second year.
Some 136,845 attendees went through the turnstiles over four days of action sports and music events in 2015, down 23,000 from a year earlier when the event debuted.
In its announcement, ESPN said the X Games have moved locations regularly, having hosted the summer events in nine cities in 20 years.
Charlotte, Chicago and Detroit are among the cities that could take over as host of the summer X Games in 2017.
