SUGAR LAND - Burlington Stores plans to open a new 50,000-sf location next year in Sugar Land, the company announced on March 21.

The New Jersey-based off-price retailer will open the new store at University Commons at Hwy. 59 and University Blvd.

Burlington plans to hire approximately 50 to 100 employees at the new location. The company will provide more information about job opportunities this fall.

The store will be near the University of Houston’s Sugar Land campus and across the highway from the new Texas Instruments headquarters.

University Commons is being developed by Vista Equities Group, which also developed LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch.

The $45 million project will include 110,000 sf of retail space, 40,000 sf of office space, three restaurant pad sites and two pad sites for banks.

The new location is slated to open in spring 2017.
