​HOUSTON - City of Houston building permits totaled $465.4 million in February 2016, down 30.7 percent from $672.0 million in February 2015, according to the latest data released by the City's Department of Public Works & Engineering Planning & Development Services. 

For the 12 months ending February 2016, city building permits totaled $7.8 billion, down 11.5 percent from $8.9 billion in the 12 months ending February 2015, which was also the historic peak for City of Houston permit activity.

Non-residential permits totaled $283.4 million in February 2016, a 5.2 percent decrease from $299.0 million in February 2015.

Residential permit values fell 51.2 percent, from $373.2 million in February 2015 to $182.0 million in February 2016.

Single-family permits slipped 36.0 percent from $116.0 million to $74.2 million while multi-family permits declined 68.2 percent from $237.7 million to $75.7 million.
