Roughneck Harley stakes claim on US 259 in Longview
LONGVIEW – Adam Smith’s Roughneck Harley has purchased four acres on US 259, just north of the Wellington Grande apartments and south of Peters Chevrolet.
The company plans to build a new store, which will be the second largest Harley-Davidson dealership in Texas.
Rob Edwards, general manager of the Longview and Nacogdoches Harley dealerships, said that the store will likely be between 30,000 and 40,000 sf, compared with 12,000 sf at the current Fourth St. store.
The new store will be able to house about 100 Harleys inside, compared with about 20 at the current store. It will provide room for expanded parts and motor clothes sales and a "state of the art" service department.
Edwards estimated the new store would about double the number of team members it has now, to between 20 and 25.
The dealership plans to open in mid-to-late 2017.
