CONROE - Six homebuilders will develop homes on the former Boy Scout Camp Strake property, which is being redeveloped into a new master-planned community called Grand Central Park in Conroe.

Texas-based Coventry Homes, Darling Homes, David Weekley Homes, Perry Homes, Village Builders and Kentucky-based Drees Custom Homes will build on 350 sites on the 2,046-acre wooded property.
Home styles will include single-family homes, lifestyle townhomes, villas and patio homes. Model homes are slated to be completed by late 2016.
Dallas-based Darling Homes will build the patio homes in the community, which range from 2,400 to 2,900 sf.
Johnson Development purchased the former Camp Strake property from the Sam Houston Area Council Boy Scouts of America in November 2013.
Camp Strake, known for more than 70 years as the flagship camp for the nation’s largest Boy Scouts of America Council, is one of the largest contiguous land parcels currently under development in the Houston metropolitan area.
The former camp site is located on the southwest corner of Interstate 45 North and Loop 336 in Conroe. The site is near the new Exxon Mobil Corp. campus.
