​​​​​DALLAS-FORT WORTH, HOUSTON – Early activity indicates that 2016 will be another strong year for occupier demand for big-box industrial real estate, according to Colliers U.S. Big-Box Market Report 2016 Outlook. 

Colliers defines a big box building as a 300,000 sf or larger industrial building that is primarily used for distribution with ceiling heights of 28’ clear or greater and being pre-cast or tilt-up concrete construction.

Big-box construction activity continues to expand:
  • 9.8 million sf of new big-box construction is underway in the Dallas market and 9.3 million sf of new big-box development was completed during 2015.
  • 6.2 million sf of new big-box construction is underway in the Houston market and 1.8 million sf of new big-box development was completed during 2015.
