TEXAS - Buc-ee's, the company behind the popular Texas convenience stores and travel centers, will open its first location outside of Texas in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, according to various media reports.

The company, which moved parts of its headquarters to Houston, will lease inside a 56-acre development off I-12, according to the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report.

The new Buc-ee's will occupy 15 acres at the site, with more than 60,000 sf of retail space and more than 90 fueling stations.

A groundbreaking on the site is slated for second quarter, with an opening date expected in 2017.

Buc-ee's opened its first location in Lake Jackson in 1982 and now operates 31 stores within Texas.

The company also opened a long-awaited Buc-ee's Travel Plaza in Terrell, southeast of Dallas—the first to open in North Texas. Plans are in the works for another travel plaza in Denton County.
