$7.5M Katy City Hall moves opening date to June
KATY – The new $7.5 million Katy City Hall is scheduled to open June 10 after a nearly two-month delay, city officials said.
The three-story, 33,000-sf building was originally scheduled to open April 22. However, a problem in acquiring fireproof doors and roofing materials pushed the target date back just under two months.
The materials were initially unavailable because they were on back order, but everything is now on target for the June opening.
The fireproof doors are required by city zoning regulations, and without them, the building cannot open.
The new City Hall is located on Second St. between Ave. D and Ave. C, directly across the street from the multi-building complex that currently houses city staff offices.
